Tax Payments
Unfortunately, one thing is certain in life. You have to pay tax.
That is Income Tax and, when registered, VAT.
It is important that you make provision for both taxes so that when
payable you have the funds or have arranged loan finance to meet the
payment(s). It is worth having a separate account to build up with
weekly deposits. You should also earn a little interest. Most traders
do not, and use the taxes as part of their cashflow.
For Income Tax do remember that if profits decline, you can reduce
the payments on account for the next year. You will need to do your
sums and complete a form SA303.
It is important that you keep on top of your record-keeping and have
your accounts completed shortly after your year-end so that your tax
liabilities can be calculated and give you the maximum time to put
aside the tax monies.
